When it comes to healthy eating, superfoods is the term that is mostly used within the health community.

Nowadays they are the preferred aspect of a truly healthy diet. The word superfoods rose to fame in recent years.

This is in fact a non-medical term, which is used to describe foods that are low on calories and high on nutrients. These foods are most effective when consumed raw, because this how you can get the most of their nutrient value.

They contain easily digestible vitamins and organic minerals, active enzymes and antioxidants. Superfoods strengthen the immune system and its competence. They restore vital energy, have a rejuvenating effect on adults.

We have gathered a list of some of the healthiest superfoods and what benefits you can get while consuming them. Our love for superfoods has inspired us to create our own SMART BITES. They will provide you with the nutritions your body needs in order to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

Of course, we will take a deeper look at the ingredients we use to produce our product and give you some fun facts on why they are so delicious.

  1. Dates

dates as superfoods

Dates are what all of our bites are based on.

This is what gives our bliss balls the sweet taste, while eliminating added sugars. They come from the Middle East, South Asia and Africa. Dates grow on trees called date palms.

For thousands of years, dates are believed to have healing powers. They contain very little fats and can lower cholesterol. This makes them the perfect snack for anyone who wishes to lose weight.

Dates are also known for their abilities to induce labor. While this is still not 100% proven, some studies say that women that have consumed around 6 dates 4 weeks prior to their due date, have had a 40% better chance of going into natural labor. They have also been in labor for significantly less time than women who haven’t consumed dates before giving birth.

  1. Nuts

nuts for healthy super food snacking

There is not a snack as simple and available as nuts.

The best part is that even though they have a high fat content, they don’t harm your health, unless you consume too much of them. Nuts can be combined with so many foods and are a great companion to any occasion.

The two main nuts that can be found in our products are almonds and peanuts. Let’s take a closer look at them:

  • Almonds
  • Did you know that almonds are related to peaches?

Just like dates, they also can help you lower your blood sugar and can also lower cholesterol. They can reduce hunger and are great when trying to keep up with your diet, but also need to have a little snack in between your general meals.

They contain lots of healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamin E, magnesium, and are very rich on protein.

Almonds can be turned into flour, which can be used as a gluten-free substitute for the normal one. Almond milk is also delicious and is perfect for people that are on a dairy-free diet.

  • Peanuts
  • Peanuts. Another amazing healthy plant-based source of protein.

They are low on carbs and high on fibre, fat and protein. This makes them a perfect meal for people with diabetes.

Some studies have shown that peanut butter could extend the lifespan of mice and rats, however, this is still not 100% confirmed for humans. This doesn’t stop us to love and enjoy this amazing superfood.

    1. Apples

    apples are superfoods

An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

There’s a reason this saying is so popular. Apples are the original superfood. They are packed with fibres and vitamin C. They also prevent numerous diseases.

Apples can be a part of many dishes, including deserts, salads and smoothies. Who doesn’t love a good apple pie? But the best way to eat apples and get the most of their healthiest properties is by eating them raw. Do have in mind, that their peal contains half of their fibres and most of their polyphenols.

Some of our most delicious bliss balls are actually made of apples and cinnamon. You can try them out now!

    1. Raspberries

As we all know, all berries are delicious and healthy.

They are actually on the top when it comes to superfoods. The reason for that is that they contain a lot of nutrition in a small volume. This makes them perfect for any diet snacking.

Raspberries are the fruit with lowest sugar levels per gram, which means that they would not raise blood sugar levels when consuming.
